Family Science Day at UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Center

Looking for something exciting that your kids can do during the holiday break? Do your kids like science and hands-on activities?
This Thursday, Jan. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m., the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center will host Family Science Day. Engaging activities will provide your child an opportunity to learn about science. Previously scheduled to be about the science of winter, some activity modifications will be required due to lack of snow. Children will conduct scientific experiments, use microscopes, learn about measuring snow, wind chill, and why some animals hibernate, and much more.
Everything takes place at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences in Incline Village, on the campus of Sierra Nevada College. Our program is designed for students’ ages 6 - 12, but all families are welcome to join in on the fun. This event is free and open to the public. Hot chocolate and holiday snacks will be provided.

In addition to the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, other participating organizations for Family Science Day include American Red Cross, Great Basin Outdoor School, IVGID WasteNOT, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships, Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, and Tahoe Resource Conservation District.
Want to bring some of this great scientific learning home with you? We've got just the thing! During our Family Science Day we will also be having an Usborne Books Bookfair! Usborne has high quality, engaging, educational books for the whole family. Get a preview of them at www.TheUsborneBookLady.com. Proceeds from this event will go to the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center. Further your children's learning experience by bringing it home!
