Chain controls finally going up around the Lake Tahoe Basin

It's been awhile, but its time to get the chains ready if you're without 4WD and snow tires! A long awaited storm is making its way into the Lake Tahoe basin. A Winter Storm Warning is in place for Lake Tahoe until 4:00 p.m. Friday.
I-80 over Donner Pass has had chain controls go up at about 7:00 p.m. but Highway 50 over Echo Summit just saw chain controls go up at 10:15 p.m.
As of 10:35 p.m. Thursday:
Highway 50 from Meyers to Twin Bridges
Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas).
State Route 89 from Hope Valley To Meyers
Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas).
State Route 89 from Ebright to Bliss State Park

I-80 from Nyack to Truckee

State Route 88 from Pickett's Junction to Ham's Station

State Route 207 from Stateline over summit
Chains or Snow Tires Required - on SR-207 from mile post 0.0 in Douglas County to mile post 5.0 in Douglas County in Nevada.
Highway 50 from Glenbrook over Spooner Summit
Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles
State Route 28 from Spooner Summit to mile post 2.8 in Carson City County
Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles
State Route 431 from Incline Village over Mt. Rose
Chains or Snow Tires Required - on SR-431 from State Route 28 to Slide Mountain Highway in Nevada.

Forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:
Tonight - Snow. Low around 26. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Friday - Snow showers. High near 32. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Friday Night - Scattered snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the morning.
