Highway 50 and I80 both reopened after snow closures

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - U.S. Highway 50 reopened to eastbound and westbound traffic this morning about 5:00 a.m. with R-2 chain controls still in effect from Point View (just above Placerville) to Meyers.

Expect extra vehicles on the roads in South Lake Tahoe as US50 is the only main artery over the Sierra that is open at this hour.

The following highway closures are still in place for snow removal operations:

Interstate 80:
Eastbound commercial vehicles are being turned at Applegate; passenger vehicles are being turned at Colfax. Westbound at the Nevada state line

Closed from Ham's Station to Kirkwood

CLosed from 2 miles east of Kirkwood to 5 miles west of Pickett's Junction
