Community and education celebrated at Tahoe Women's Community Fund dinner

The Tahoe Women's Community Fund celebrated their third annual Membership Celebration this past Thursday at Harvey's. With over 150 in attendance, we celebrated the success of our collective giving circle! Dr. Guy Lease gave an inspiring keynote speech on "The Power of Education in Our Community", and Karin Holmes was honored as our first annual Woman of Distinction! The positive strength in the room was amazing!

The Tahoe Women's Community Fund has raised and donated $51,000 back to the community over these past two years, and collected over $28,000 for their endowment fund. Organizations who have received funds in the last two years include St. Joseph's Community Land Trust, Bread and Broth for Kids, NAMI, Between Horses and Humans, LTUSD Elementary School, Tahoe Prosperity Center, A Brush with Kindness, Tahoe Turning Point, Juvenile Service Council, and Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless.

TWCF is a membership fund where membership donations (minimum of $100) are collectively accumulated and then donated back to the community here on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. Your membership allows you a vote...thus grant giving is a completely democratic process. If you are interested in becoming a member for the 2018 giving season, please visit www.tahoewomenscommunityfund.org. We are already 100+ members strong for 2018 with over $30,000 collected that will be donated back this spring. Membership donations are due by December 31, 2017 to be part of the 2018 collective giving circle!

Thank you so much to all who celebrated our success with us. Special thanks to the TWCF Cabinet (Wendy David, Jennifer Stafford, Jamie Orr, Sara Pierce, Cynthea Preston, Tere Tibbetts, Jess Schnoll, Brooke Hernandez, Britta Swanson, Heidi Drum, and Peter Spellman) and our sponsors, US Bank and El Dorado Community Foundation.
