Lake Tahoe area roadwork November 20-26

NOTE: Traffic-interfering work will be restricted from 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 23 through 10 p.m. Sunday, November 27 due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work is in winter suspension on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in summer 2017.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work is complete on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project is constructing new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repaving a four-mile section of the highway.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work is complete on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks are being built in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems were built and the roadway was resurfaced.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. Completion is expected this fall.
November 21-23 - State Route 28 (Placer County) from Beach Avenue to Deer Street and Fox Street to Beaver Streets: Motorists can expect shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Sierra Ski Ranch Road to Mt. Ralston Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the Upper Truckee River bridge in Meyers: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Schnell School Road Eastbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 5 Mile Road/Paul Bunyan Road to 8 Mile Road/Cedar Grove: Eastbound motorists can expect left-turn pockets closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends during Apple Hill season for safety reasons.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Sly Park Road to Carson Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed at various locations from 6
a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for tree removal work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Strawberry Lodge Drive to Johnson Pass Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for pavement smoothness work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Skyline/Coon Hollow Road to Pacific Street in Placerville: Motorists can expect a full highway closure with a city detour in place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for utility work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from the Tahoe City Transit Center to the Pfeifer House: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control and intermittent full highway closures at various locations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for tree work.
