COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There have been no new cases of COVID-19 in EL Dorado County since Monday. 176 more tests were administered, with 4,584 tests to date. One more person has recovered, bringing that total to 53, leaving 14 active cases.

There have been 25 cases in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma).

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 29 news cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County with 17 recoveries.

Recoveries: 689 (+17)
Active cases: 558 (+12)
Currently hospitalized: 55 (+1)
Cases who have discharged from hospital: 108 (+1)

There have been 21 confirmed cases in Incline Village and 1 in Crystal Bay.

The increase in positive cases is significant and indicative of community spread of COVID-19. We can't stress enough the importance of staying at home, social distancing practices and using facial coverings.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 18, 2020:

67 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+0% since May 17)
48 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+6%)
15 percent of all ventilators are in use (-10%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting five new positive cases and one additional recovery of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 150, with 103 recoveries and three deaths, 44 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Lyon County resident in her 70’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 50’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 20’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Alpine County

There have only been updates to the county's testing figures. The two positive case numbers have not risen in a few weeks. The figures below are the last ones reported on April 27 and there have been no changes.
