COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were no new COVID-19 cases in El Dorado County for the third consecutive day. An additional two people recovered bringing the active cases down to 12. 81 new tests were administered, with a total of 4,879 now tested for COVID-19.

There have been 25 cases in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma).

The Regional Information Center is reporting the largest single-day increase in COVID-19 recoveries with 47 and 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County.

Active cases: 521 (-36)
Currently hospitalized: 58 (+2)
Cases who have discharged from hospital: 111 (+1)

21 people in Incline Village have tested posted with another 1 person in Crystal Bay.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 20, 2020:

71 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+0 since May 19)
52 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+3%)
15 percent of all ventilators are in use (-2%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting six new positive cases and nine additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 159, with 114 recoveries and three deaths, 42 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Lyon County resident in her 30’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 90’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 70’s
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.
