COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were no new cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County on Wednesday. There have been no new recoveries and the active case number remains at 14. An additional 205 people were tested for the coronavirus.

There have been 25 cases in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma).

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 11 additional recoveries and 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County. The total number of recoveries has reached 700.

Currently hospitalized: 56 (+1)
Cases who have discharged from hospital: 110 (+2)

The Incline Village case numbers remain at 21 and 1 in Crystal Bay.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 19, 2020:

71 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+4% since May 18)
49 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+1%)
17 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting three new positive cases and two additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 153, with 105 recoveries and three deaths, 45 cases remain active.

The new case is:
• A male Douglas County resident in his 60’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.
