Dr. Annie Davidson filed Thursday to run for school board member of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District serving Trustee Area 1.
"I want to run because the role is a good fit with my experience, and so a good way for me to contribute to the community in which Matt and I are raising our family," she said of her decision to run. "We moved to South Tahoe, excited about the schools. I hope to help address the accreditation issues at the high school, support each elementary school to provide stellar education for all students especially with the transition to new science standards, and help ensure our students transition to adulthood ready for college, career and community involvement."
A resident of South Lake Tahoe since 2014, Davidson has a 20-year career in education and currently serves as an independent education consultant for both public and private education-focused entities supporting students with disabilities and English learners in testing and assessment. She co-teaches in support of directors Aileen Yure and Jennifer David at Tahoe Parent Nursery School and is an adjunct faculty member of Lake Tahoe Community College in Education. She recently served the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium at UCLA as Director of Supports for Students and held positions of research scientist and manager with McGraw-Hill Education/CTB in Monterey, Calif. She served as Assistant Director and Consultant with the Nevada Department of Education in Carson City from 2008 to 2011. Davidson participates in professional organizations including the American Education Research Association as an author, peer reviewer, and committee volunteer.
Originally from the Northeast, Davidson taught science at Hebron Academy in Maine, was an elementary classroom teacher in Burlington Public Schools, and was a performing arts educator with the Flynn Theater for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont. She received her Doctorate in Education from the University of Vermont (2007), Masters of Arts (2002) with public elementary teaching credential (1999) from St. Michael’s College-Vermont, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University (1995).
With her husband Matt Lucksinger, Davidson has served as a member of the Sierra House Elementary School PTA Board and regularly volunteers in the classroom. She volunteers for the Warm Room, in her daughters’ classrooms and Marcia Sarosik’s Dance Studio, and as an AYSO soccer coach. She performs regularly with TOCCATA and other local music groups, and she loves being part of the South Tahoe community with her husband and daughters Miri,5, and Addie,5.
