Lake Tahoe area roadwork for September 3-9

The following is the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) roadwork schedule for the Lake Tahoe area.

NOTE: Most traffic-interfering work will be limited through midnight Monday, September 4 due to the Labor Day holiday.

EMERGENCY PROJECT

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): The highway is reduced to one lane in each direction at Bridal Veil Falls for slope and roadway repair work. Completion is expected by the end of the year.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $22 million project to replace the South Fork American River Bridge in Coloma-Lotus. This project will make seismic improvements to the bridge, widen the structure to allow for 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot sidewalks, and also make roadway improvements to State Route 49 on either side of the bridge. Completion is expected in fall 2018. September 5-8 - State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at the South Fork American River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curb, gutter and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. September 5-8 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Dunlap Drive to Winnemucca Avenue: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed around the clock from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Friday for curb, gutter, sidewalk and drainage work.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard that will become a local road after project completion, which is expected in 2018. September 5-8 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Drive to Tahoe Tavern Road: Motorists can expect shoulder closures around the clock as work continues behind k-rail for grading and rock wall work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Lakewood Lane to Dollar Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for electrical work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Shingle Springs Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at El Dorado Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Missouri Flat Road: Eastbound motorists can expect shoulder closed from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for landscape work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Alpine Avenue to Sierra Ski Ranch Road (Sierra-at-Tahoe): Eastbound motorists can expect shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Big Meadows Creek to Upper Truckee Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for slope repair work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Eagle Point Campground to Eagle Falls: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for guard rail, barrier wall and slope repair work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Emerald Bay State Park to D.L. Bliss State Park: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for ditch cleaning work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Alpine Meadows Road to Rampart Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for electrical work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at .5 miles north of State Route 49 in Placerville: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday for electrical work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from National Avenue to Brockway Summit: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 267 (Nevada County) from Brockway Road to the Interstate 80 connector: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for electrical work.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
