Lake Tahoe area roadwork for October 15-21

The following is a list of Caltrans projects for the following week in Lake Tahoe.

SPECIAL EVENT

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) will be closed to vehicle traffic in each direction around Emerald Bay from approximately 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 15 during the Lake Tahoe Marathon. EMERGENCY PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Forest Road to the PG&E canal in Fresh Pond: The highway is reduced to one lane in each direction for roadway repair work. Completion is expected in late fall.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): The highway is reduced to one lane in the westbound direction near Bridal Veil Falls for roadway repair work. Both eastbound lanes are now open. Completion is expected in mid-November.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $22 million project to replace the South Fork American River Bridge in Coloma-Lotus. This project will make seismic improvements to the bridge, widen the structure to allow for 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot sidewalks, and also make roadway improvements to State Route 49 on either side of the bridge. Completion is expected in fall 2018. - October 15-21 - State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Lotus Road to Marshall Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control around the clock Sunday through Saturday for roadway excavation work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curb, gutter and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. - October 16-20 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Dunlap Drive to Winnemucca Avenue: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #2 lanes closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for highway construction work.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard. Project completion is expected in fall 2018. For more information, visit: www.fannybridge.org- October 16-21 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Drive to Mackinaw Road: Motorists can expect shoulder closures as work continues behind k-rail Monday through Saturday for bridge work and utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Carnelian Bay Avenue to Granite Road Motorists can expect one-way traffic control and lane shifts at various locations from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Aaron Cool Road to Saint Florian Road in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for ditch cleaning work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 5 Mile Road to Carson Road in Camino: Eastbound motorists can expect the left-hand turn lanes closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends during the month of October for Apple Hill season.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 33 Mile Stone to Eagle Rock Picnic Area: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday for paving work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Eagle Point Campground to Bayview Campground: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock until November 3 for guardrail, barrier wall and slope repair work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Bliss State Park to 1 Ring Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for dead tree removal work.

State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) from Squaw Valley Road to Donner Pass Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for pavement striping.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
