This brings the total of cases in the county to 102. There have been no new recoveries, leaving 34 active cases. The only hospitalization at time is a patient in the ICU county-wide.
The new cases are two men and two women, three aged 18-49 years old and one aged 50-64.

The new ones are both male, one from the Lake Tahoe region and the other from El Dorado Hills, one under the age of 17, one in the 18-49 age group.
70 more tests were given, with 6,527 now administered.
There were no new recoveries and no new hospitalizations.
There have been 42 cases in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

All are male, three aged 18-49 and three 50-64.
Two more have recovered, bringing that total to 67. One person is still hospitalized county-wide in the ICU and there are 29 active cases.
An additional 289 people were tested since Friday, 6,348 since the pandemic started.

The only item on the agenda is discussion and possible action on expanding Stage 2 to include all businesses and industries identified in Stage 3 of Governor Newsom's Resiliency Roadmap.

Five of them are from the same household and are contacts to a known case. The new cases are two male, four female, two under the age of 17, the rest are in the 18-49-year-old range.
There were no new hospitalizations Friday, leaving one confirmed case in the hospital, one in the ICU.
Four new recoveries are being reported, bringing that total to 65. There are 25 active cases remaining.
Council relaxes rules on outdoor restaurant seating and advertising

The South Lake Tahoe City Council unanimously passed an urgency ordinance during their special meeting Thursday, one that relaxes the regulations regarding temporary signage, building permit fees, and outdoor restaurant seating rules.
As the City and County move into Governor Newsom's Stage 2 plans, restrictions placed on some places of business to promote social distancing and safety practices will not allow many to reopen in the same manner as pre-pandemic.

One is aged 18-49 and the other two are in the 50-64-year-old age group. 84 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus in the county.
Two more have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 61.
Ninety more tests were conducted Thursday with a total now of 5,955 tests administered.

City of South Lake Tahoe facilities to start reopening
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/28/2020 - 2:56pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe will be opening their boat ramp at El Dorado Beach on Friday, May 29. Only boats with valid Tahoe, Echo Lake or Fallen Leaf Lake seals and a 2020 Tahoe sticker will be able to launch. "Tahoe Only" stickers are available for purchase at this launch site. They will be open Friday through Sunday only at this time from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Only one boat will be able to occupy the dock at a time. The boat ramp will be not be accepting cash and wireless payment technology will be utilized.
State of California travel bans still in place, even as El Dorado County lifts their order
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/28/2020 - 9:17amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - On Wednesday, May 27, El Dorado County rescinded its nonessential travel ban into the Lake Tahoe Basin, just as it did when letting the County-specific Stay At Home order expire in April.
The messaging is confusing as local orders are lifted, and state orders are still in place.
The action by the County does not mean that travel into Lake Tahoe Basin is all of a sudden okay though.

Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/27/2020 - 5:32pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There was one new case of COVID-19 reported in El Dorado County Wednesday, a woman in the Diamond Springs/El Dorado area. She is in the 18-49-year-old age group. There has now been a total of 81 reported cases of COVID-19 to date.
There were two new recoveries today, bringing the total number to 59. There are 22 active cases and no hospitalizations or ICU cases reported for confirmed patients. Two people are currently in the ICU in El Dorado County that are suspected of having COVID-19 as well as two hospitalized with suspected COVID-19.
Farmer's Market returns to South Lake Tahoe June 2
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/27/2020 - 3:38pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Certified Farmer's Market is starting late this year due to uncertainties created by COVID-19.
Starting June 2, and every Tuesday through October 13, the Farmer's Market will be held in South Lake Tahoe at the American Legion located at 2732 Lake Tahoe Boulevard from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This will be the county-wide market in 2020.
Other communities in El Dorado County that have a market are Cameron Park on Wednesdays, Placerville on Saturdays, and El Dorado Hills on Sunday.

Submitted by paula on Tue, 05/26/2020 - 5:13pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There have been two new cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County today, one in the Greater Placerville area and the other in the Lake Tahoe region. Both are male, one aged 18-49 and the other in the 50-64 age range.
There have now been 80 cases of COVID-19 in the county. Currently there is one in the ICU and another hospitalized (from which region is not shared). There are currently 23 active cases.
To date, there have been 5,672 tests conducted, 174 of them Tuesday. There were no reported new recoveries.
Barbershops and hair salons allowed to reopen in El Dorado County

During California Governor Gavin Newsom's press conference Monday, he gave the green light to these two businesses as long as they follow the guidelines he and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) have published.
Following Newsom's announcement, El Dorado County Public Health Officer Dr. Nancy Williams issued a statement.

The new cases are one from Greater Placerville, one from Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and two from the Lake Tahoe Region.
They are three women, one male, three in the 18-49-year-old group, and one from the 50-64-year-old group.
Recoveries remained the same at 57, leaving 21 active cases. One person in the county with a confirmed case is in the ICU and there are currently four suspected cases in the ICU county-wide.

There was a jump in COVID-19 cases Friday in El Dorado County with the first diagnosed cases in the 0-17 age group. Since Thursday there were seven new confirmed cases, six in this younger group and one in the 18-49 age group. All of these cases are from the same household of a person with an earlier positive case.

Intentional or unintentional feeding of bears results in unwanted bear behaviors, increased human-bear conflicts, and public safety issues as well as fines and possible jail time for violators. Each year, local law enforcement and state wildlife officers respond to hundreds of calls in which bears may pose a public safety threat or are damaging property. In some cases, the bear must be euthanized.

Nevada has also sent out the same message as a ban on nonessential travel that was created to prevent the spread of COVID-19 between communities.

Lake Tahoe boat ramps to start opening up for boats not needing inspection

New TAHOE housing program in South Lake Tahoe

It is called the TAHOE (Tahoe Affordable Home Ownership Enabling) program.
TAHOE has been created to do three things:
1. Provide assistance to income-qualified households searching for a home in the Tahoe Basin;
2. Enable SJCLT to purchase available homes to be made available to income-qualified Tahoe Basin employees or full-time residents;

Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/18/2020 - 6:02pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved on May 12 an amendment to their ordinance for the retail sale, commercial distribution, and commercial indoor cultivation of recreational adult-use cannabis as it pertains to the Meyers community.
Originally, no zoning in Meyers qualified for these activities as their Area Plan zoning didn't match up with the approved areas for El Dorado County's legal activities could fit.

Applications available for El Dorado County small business recovery funding
Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/18/2020 - 1:58pmSince the beginning of March as the COVID-19 crisis was just beginning to feel like it could become a threat in our community, the El Dorado Community Foundation has granted out over $280,000 to individuals in need and nonprofits striving to continue providing their services through lost funding and canceled fundraisers.
The Foundation is beginning to shift focus from response to recovery as they see sectors of the community start to open back up. One component of that needed recovery will be in the form of financial support to the small business community.
Celebrating South Tahoe High's seniors in a socially distancing manner

For South Tahoe High School (STHS), all 226 graduates received yard/window signs over the past few days. Principal Carline Sinkler, teachers, staff, and other volunteers visited each home in South Lake Tahoe with the signs provided by the Barton Foundation.

179 more people were tested in the county with a total now of 3,903. The goal of health officials is 132 per day. There are two free testing sites for those without symptoms in the county that will test anyone with an appointment, one in Shingle Springs and the other in South Lake Tahoe.
There have now been 52 recoveries and there are currently 12 active cases in the county.
Three arrested in Stateline drug operation bust

On Thursday, May 14, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home on Bonnie Court in Stateline after a five-month-long investigation. James R. Jones, 77, a local engineer and avid sailor, served on South Tahoe Public Utility District’s Board of Directors for 39 years (1977-1989, 1993-2020). During his tenure on the Board, Director Jones focused on building for the future, instead of 'kicking the can down the road.’
COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/14/2020 - 5:07pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Health officials are reporting two new cases of COVID-19 in the county and both from the Diamond Springs/El Dorado area. One male and one female, both 18-49 years old.
To date, 3,724 tests for the virus have been administered, an addition of 320 since yesterday. There were no new recoveries and currently there are 11 active cases.
To date, 62 COVID-19 cases in the county with 20 in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma).

To date, 60 COVID-19 cases in the county with 20 in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma). There have been 51 recoveries and nine active cases remain county-wide.

Council approves $200,000 to go to business grants, COVID expenses and restaurant vouchers
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/13/2020 - 11:01amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - City Council approved $200,000 Tuesday to be used in the South Lake Tahoe community through business grants, COVID-related expenses, and a restaurant voucher program.
Following on the heels of their $50,000 donated to five nonprofits supplying food to the South Lake Tahoe community during the pandemic, the Council voted to follow the direction of the task force and allocate $100,000 to fund the COVID Compliance Grant Reimbursement Program, $50,000 for a Small Business Grant Program, and $50,000 to a Local Restaurant Voucher Program.
City Council amends emergency ordinance that fined second homeowners
Submitted by paula on Tue, 05/12/2020 - 10:23pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City Council voted Tuesday to amend their Emergency Order No. 1 from April that authorized administrative citations and fines of $1,000 for violations of the Governor's Stay at Home Order.
The City will not be fining second homeowners who visit their home in South Lake Tahoe but they will continue to fine those found renting out vacation homes until the Governor's ban on non-essential travel is amended.
