SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Another event casualty due to the coronavirus is the 29th annual America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride. Originally set for Sunday, June 7, it has been rescheduled to combine with the 18th annual Tour de Tahoe, set for Sunday, September 13, 2020. This due to the uncertainty of current and changing CDC coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions and mandates by national, state and county health agencies.

STATELINE, Nev. - Eldorado Resorts, Inc. and Maverick Gaming LLC have entered into a definitive agreement for the purchase of Montbleu Casino Resort on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

STATELINE, Nev. - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) is asking for the public's help in identifying two men wanted for questioning in connection with alleged crimes in the Lake Tahoe casino area. Rewards are being offered in both cases.

They are investigating a theft case in which the suspect pictured above allegedly stole the victim's wallet, removed large amounts of cash and disposed of the wallet in a casino restroom. DSCO says the suspect left the casino property in a white vehicle similar to a Subaru wagon.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - To celebrate the 5th year of The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF), a record $125,000 will be granted to the South Shore Community this spring.

The 212 members of TWCF contributed to the fund and Lisa Maloff made another generous donation. The $125k they will be giving to the community through grants is 49 percent higher than last year.

Members vote where the grants will be focused and they've added a new category this year, the Inspiration Grant.

Dylan Kane Sterling passed away unexpectedly on Jan 11, 2020, in Ecorse, Mich. He was 35-years-old. Son of Kevin and Michele Sterling, brother to William, Joshua and sister Chelsea.

Dylan grew up in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. After graduating from South Tahoe High Scool in 2003 he moved to Phoenix, Ariz. to attend Universal Technical Institute - Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Division. He completed his studies becoming a certified motorcycle and small engine mechanic.

Dylan always loved going for a hike locally with his dog Spanky.

STATELINE, Nev. - The public is invited to take part in one of several meetings over the next two weeks that will go over NV Energy's Natural Disaster Protection Plan (NDPP).

The public is invited to take part as the utility shares key elements of their draft NDPP and solicit feedback before it is filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada by March 1, 2020.

Senate Bill 329 addresses how the utilities will mitigate and respond to wildfires, severe storms and other natural disaster risks in service territories.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev./Calif. - Operation Sierra Storm, a leading national weather conference being held on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe Jan. 26-28, 2020, is a cutting-edge meteorological forum and seminar for network television meteorologists from around the country.

The Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority has invited the public to one of the events during the conference, Fire Conditions, Community Safety and Tahoe Climate Impact, on January 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Harveys Lake Tahoe Cabaret Theater.

STATELINE, Nev. - Many know him from "Hell's Kitchen," "MasterChef" and "Kitchen Nightmares," and now people will get to know world-renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay and experience his culinary skills at his new Lake Tahoe restaurant named after the hit reality show.

Caesars Entertainment has teamed up with Ramsay once again and has transformed the old Sage Room in Harveys Lake Tahoe to be the newest home for Hell's Kitchen.

Even before the doors open, over 12,000 reservations have been made for one of 151 seats in the 3,160 square foot restaurant located on the casino floor.

Hosting their second Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) this year, Monbleu Resort Casino & Spa was the sponsor for Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal on December 2. “It was a pleasure once again to lend a hand for such an important cause for our community,” shared Michael Carney. Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe posted big gains in October according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board's monthly recap of the state's casino revenue. Nevada’s non-restricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $952,404,403 for the month.

The $19,503,080 South Shore "gaming win" is 14.32 percent above the same month in 2018. As a state, the revenue of $1,021,909,865 is down 3.85 percent. They have posted gains over 2018 in three of the last four months.

The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

STATELINE, Nev. - At 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, NV Energy will resume work on Highway 50 in Stateline on the South Shore with new measures in place for traffic flow. A previous attempt resulted in traffic backed up to Zephyr Cove.

The work is to replace equipment in two underground electric vaults. The new traffic plan will be in effect 6:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30 through approximately 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4:

• One lane of traffic will be open in each direction on Highway 50 through the casino corridor.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The next public US Highway 50 Main Street Management Plan open house will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel Tallac Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The event will consist of a series of informational stations where residents can give input on the planning stages of this transformational project. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) are seeking comments as different options for the design of the corridor come into focus.

7:00 p.m. Update: A fire along Highway 50 Wednesday burned 16 acres after being started when a truck towing a trailer caught fire after having a flat tire at 1:21 p.m. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office evacuated some home in the area when winds took the flames from the highway in towards a neighborhood.

All residents have been allowed to go back home. Firefighters will stay at the scene overnight to patrol and watch for hotspots.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be another fire in California, but when and where cannot be predicted and is unknown - but what is known is there will be another community that is devastated by wildland fire.

Residents around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra know this all too well and have been talking about concerns of wildfire threats in and around the Tahoe Basin. Those conversations have turned into plans and the City of South Lake Tahoe has just released an interactive website to help both residents and visitors map out an evacuation plan based on their neighborhood.

As incoming high school students prepare for the upcoming fall semester, they should also set aside time to explore where they might want to attend college.

So says educator Leslie Hermann, founder of Edplanit.org, an Incline Village-based educational consulting agency which focuses its energies on guiding high school students through the college application and admissions processes.

To that end, this month Hermann and her colleagues are hosting a college fair and a college Bootcamp.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released its monthly report today and casinos on the south shore of Lake Tahoe posted a 12.05 percent drop in revenue when compared to June 2018.

Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $1,040,994,041 for the month, an 11.57 percent increase compared to June 2018, when licensees reported a gaming win of $933,019,638. For the fiscal year (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019), gaming win for the state has increased 0.80 percent.

On June 24th, Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal fed 96 community members who arrived at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to be served beef stroganoff, sautéed zucchini, a green salad, fresh apricots and a lovely assortment of desserts.
