Smoke from the Park Fire will continue to impact portions of northeast California and western Nevada through the week, mostly north of Lake Tahoe.
The potential for thunderstorms returns late this week and into the weekend. Beyond that, things are looking warm for South Lake Tahoe (see map above).

The broadband project is a part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

70-year-old man found safe after spending five nights in wilderness west of Lake Tahoe

Since then, up to 100 searchers a day from 10 agencies from across the state have been looking for the 70-year-old man.
It was long-awaited news at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, when the Placer County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) received a 911 text from someone stating they were with a missing person at Hell Hole Reservoir. It was quickly confirmed they were with Warren.

Tabakin, 24, joins the Knight Monsters after beginning his professional career with the Newfoundland Growlers this past March, logging an assist in six appearances. Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/22/2024 - 11:03pmNORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Carnelian Bay West Beach and Patton Landing Beach will both remain closed after a sewer line break near Carnelian Bay dumped untreated sewage into Lake Tahoe on Thursday, July 18.
A private contractor struck the North Tahoe Public Utility District’s (NTPUD) main sewer export pipeline, resulting in 125,000 gallons of untreated sewage being discharged, 85,000 of those gallons ending up in the lake.
Lightning-caused fires in Plumas National Forest, evacuations underway
Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/22/2024 - 9:17pmPLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - Four fires started Monday afternoon after a thunderstorm passed through eastern Plumas County around 2 p.m. The four fires were all dry lightning strikes and were outside of the rain core of the storm.
The Mill, Mill 2, and Mill 3 fires are currently burning near the community of Whitehawk Ranch. The Smith Fire is currently burning north of California State Highway 70 between Smith Peak and Maybe. Together they are being called the Gold Complex.

On July 22, 2024, at approximately 12:53 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers from South Lake Tahoe were dispatched to a strip mall parking lot where they found a victim crushed between a truck tractor and trailer combination and a Ford F450.
