That plan would have caused local South Lake Tahoe mail to go to Reno, then to Sacramento for processing, back to Reno, and then to South Lake Tahoe.

South Tahoe MTB/Douglas MTB races at North Tahoe Challenge

They are part of the Nevada North League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).
Many team members raced in the North Tahoe Challenge which was held on trails adjacent to North Tahoe High School. The course was a 4.6-mile lap with 450 feet of elevation gain per lap under dusty and loose trail conditions.
Two-vehicle crash jams up traffic in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 08/28/2024 - 3:17pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A collision involving two vehicles in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday sent one person to the hospital and jammed up traffic for about an hour.
At 12:07 p.m., first responders got the call about the collision at the intersection of Takela and Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Upon arrival, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue had to extricate a woman from the inside of a Toyota Camry. She was transported to Barton Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to Sgt. Justin Brock of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

American Beverage grants over $300k to South Tahoe Refuse to assist with new cart system

The grant, given in collaboration with The Recycling Partnership, will help fund the new recycling carts that are being rolled out this week to provide a more convenient and effective collection of trash, green waste, and recyclables. The grant will also help fund residential outreach materials with educational information on what materials can be recycled using the new carts.

South Lake Tahoe City Council to work on 2025 budget during Tuesday's workshop

This meeting will serve as the annual Budget Workshop, along with some other agenda items. The public can participate in-person or online.
The total FY 2025 (Fiscal Year 2025 that starts Oct. 1) City budget across all funds is approximately $297.2 million, including the primary General Fund budget of approximately $68.8 million and Measure S Sales Tax general fund budget of $8.0 million.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Carson City Sheriff's Office seeks help finding missing person possibly in South Lake Tahoe area

He is a white male adult, 5’8”, 200 pounds, bald with blue eyes. He was last heard from by family on July 29, 2024, after leaving the Reno area.
It is suspected that he is in the South Lake Tahoe area. No foul play is suspected in his disappearance at this time.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Carson

The Forest Service announced the Pathways for Wildlife presentation at the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater at Taylor Creek on Friday night is postponed and will be rescheduled for an evening in September.

Manning was promoted to Fuels Division Chief, and Norberg is a new hire who transferred to SLTFR from the Dixon Fire Department.
The celebration was attended by SLTFR staff, the Lake Valley Fire Department, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, the City of South Lake Tahoe staff, the chipping crew, family, and friends.

Deceased woman found along rocks on shore of South Lake Tahoe

At 11:25 a.m. on August 22, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) and South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded to a call of an "unresponsive" person on the shoreline area across from the Fremont Avenue area. Upon arrival, first responders started lifesaving measures but they were unable to revive her and she was pronounced deceased.

This lively festival, presented by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority in partnership with the Tahoe Improvement District, promises a weekend packed with fun, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. Admission is free though there is a charge for carnival rides and games. The activities start at 5 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s theme is “Diamonds and Denim,” so bring your best cowboy hats and boots for a night of sparkling fun.

September 28, 2024 - 9:00am Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited to this fun, hands-on restoration event. By pitching in, you will help improve the ecosystem functions and wildlife habitats that surround Lake Tahoe. Healthy streams, meadows and wetlands act as natural pollution filters to Keep Tahoe Blue. Volunteers do not need previous experience to participate in the projects. Help us heal the land to Keep Tahoe Blue.

Lake Wind Advisory for much of Lake Tahoe, Red Flag Warning up in surrounding area
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/22/2024 - 9:28amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe Basin from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Donner Lake, and Prosser and Boca reservoirs are also included in the warning.
Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and waves up to 3 feet should be expected. Small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.
