Lake Tahoe and Sierra area roadwork 10/27 - 11/1/19

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans is wrapping up their 2019 road projects in the Sierra and on the California side of Lake Tahoe.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $5.2 million project to upgrade metal beam guardrail and construct concrete barriers at 89 locations from the Red Hawk Undercrossing to 1.9 miles west of the junction with State Route 89 in Meyers. Completion is expected this fall or spring 2020. - October 28-November 1 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Newtown Road to the Flagpole Gun Mount just west of Meyers: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control or the #2 lane closed at various locations from 6 p.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday for guardrail replacement work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work is complete on a $4.7 million project to install drainage sand traps and maintenance vehicle pullouts at various locations on U.S. Highway 50 from Riverton (Ice House Road) to Kyburz.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $14.1 million project to replace the Echo Summit Sidehill Viaduct, located 7 miles west of South Lake Tahoe. This project is replacing the current bridge, built in 1939, with a new structure to meet current design and safety standards. Completion is expected in fall of 2020. For more information, visit way2tahoe.com - October 28-November 1 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Caltrans Echo Summit Maintenance Yard to Johnson Pass Road (east end): Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 and State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work is wrapping up on a $7.3 million project to convert the existing “T” intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and State Route 89 in Meyers into a three-legged roundabout with a westbound bypass lane and a bike path extension. This project will reduce the number and/or severity of collisions at the intersection. The roundabout is open to traffic and no traffic-interfering work is scheduled.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection at State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curbs, gutters and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected this fall or next spring. - October 28-November 1 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from B Street to the Trout Creek Bridge: Motorists can expect lane restrictions and shoulder closures at various locations around the clock from 12:01 a.m. Monday to 11 a.m. Friday for electrical, driveway paving, striping, drainage and landscape work.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work is wrapping up on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, drainage improvements, paving and a shared-use path connection. State Route 193 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $6.1 million project to build retaining walls at two locations on SR-193 between Kelsey Road and Rock Creek Road and to install medal beam guardrail. Construction is being done behind k-rail with a signal in operation 24/7 through November for reversing one-way traffic control.

State Route 49 (Placer County) from the I-80/SR 49 interchange to Dry Creek Road: Construction began June 17 on a $40.5 million project in Auburn. The project will rehabilitate existing pavement and drainage, improve operational features and upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities. - October 27 – November 1 - State Route 49 (Placer County) from Elm Avenue/Fulweiler Avenue to Persimmon Terrace: Motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for drainage work.

State Route 49 (Placer County) from Nevada Street/Marguerite Mine Road to Luther Road: Motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for electrical work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Bradley Drive to Fowler Lane: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Bee Street to Diana Street: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Point View Drive to Newtown Road: Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for crack-sealing work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Elks Club Drive to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday for bridge joint replacement work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Elizabeth Drive to SState Route 49 (Placer County) from Persimmon Terrace to Nevada Street/Marguerite Mine Road: Motorists can expect shoulder closures from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Streeter Road to Cameo Drive: Motorists can expect shoulder closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for paving and utility work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from the Yuba-Sierra County line to Rocky Rest Campground: Motorists can expect reversing one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for a paving operation.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Brandy City Road to Yuba Pass Road: Motorists can expect intermittent reversing one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for miscellaneous work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the Bowman Undercrossing to the Haines Road Overcrossing: Westbound motorists can expect a right shoulder closure around the clock through December 2019. Detour signs will be in place for a County bridge deck replacement project.

Interstate 80 (Nevada/Placer Counties) from the Yuba Gap Overcrossing to the Rainbow Road Overcrossing: Eastbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Tuesday for shoulder work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada/Placer Counties) from the Troy Undercrossing to the Soda Springs Overcrossing: Eastbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for grinding and paving work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from the Donner Lake Interchange to the Donner Pass Road Overcrossing (Central Truckee): Motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures around the clock beginning 6 a.m. Monday through 11 a.m. Friday for grinding and paving work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from the Overland Trail Undercrossing to Central Truckee (exit 186): Westbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday for emergency guardrail repairs.

Interstate 80 (Nevada/Sierra Counties) from Floriston to the Nevada-Sierra County line: Eastbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday for emergency guardrail repair. Permit loads will not be allowed on eastbound I-80.

State Route 89 (Sierra County) from the Interstate 80 junction to Cottonwood Road: Motorists can expect intermittent reversing one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for miscellaneous work.

State Route 193 (Placer County) from Oak Tree Lane to just before Stardust Lane: Motorists can expect reversing one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Tuesday for utility work.

State Route 193 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Mandarin Hill Road: Motorists can expect intermittent reversing one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, and 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for drainage and maintenance work.

State Road 193 (Placer County) from Armes Lane/Summer Star Way to the Interstate 80 junction: Motorists can expect reversing one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for tree removal and a maintenance operation.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Mt. Watson Road to Kings Beach: Motorists can expect intermittent reversing one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for miscellaneous work.

Sugar Pine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Brockway Summit to the junction with State Route 28 in Kings Beach: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for miscellaneous maintenance work.
