Sixteen of those cases are in the Lake Tahoe region, three in El Dorado Hills, one each in in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, Greater Placerville and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. In the new group of positive cases, four are aged under 18, 13 aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and two aged 65 and over.

South Lake Tahoe did not lead the group which is the norm and had five positive cases. El Dorado Hills had 14, Greater Placerville with 3, Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue had two, and one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz. Of the new cases, four are under the age of 18, 15 aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and three aged 65 and older.

Of those, five are in the Lake Tahoe region, two in El Dorado Hills, and one each in Greater Placerville and the North County. The new cases are eight people aged 18-49, and one aged 50-64.
Another 382 tests were administered and 373 negative test results were received.
Currently there are 155 assumed active cases and 11 assumed recoveries.

Of the new cases, four are from the Lake Tahoe region, two from El Dorado Hills, one from Greater Placerville and one from South County. In those counts, four are aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.
An additional 350 people have been tested for coronavirus. There were 342 negative test results received today and 24 assumed recoveries. The current assume positive case load is 157 in the county.

Of the new cases, ten are in the Lake Tahoe region, nine in El Dorado Hills, four in Greater Placerville, four in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in the North County and one in Diamond Springs, El Dorado. There was one aged under 18, 16 in the age group 18-49, eight aged 50-64 and 5 aged 65 or older.
Another 559 tests were administered. The county was notified of 529 negative results and 17 assumed recoveries. There are 173 assumed active cases.

Of those, two are from the Lake Tahoe region, five in El Dorado Hills, three in the Greater Placerville region and three in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Two are under the age of 18, seven aged 18-49, three aged 50-64, one aged 65 or older.
160 more tests were administered. There were 147 negative tests returned, 36 assumed recoveries and currently 169 assumed active cases of COVID-19.
Challenge of accurate Census numbers in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/07/2020 - 11:43amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Every ten years a Census is taken of all people living in the Unitied States. While the state of California currently has a 64.5 percent response rate, South Lake Tahoe once again is lagging far behind.
As of August 6, 28.1 percent of those living in South Lake Tahoe had turned in answers to the Census Bureau. El Dorado County as a whole, 58.6 percent. Nationally, the Census return rate is 63.2 percent.

Douglas County officials give update on Saturday's protest
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/06/2020 - 10:56pmDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - In response to the number of people and groups expected at a protest in Minden, Nevada on Saturday, Douglas County officials have expanded traffic controls to keep everyone safe.
Cement walls have alread been installed to block motor vehicle traffic on Water Street to allow participants to move safely and freely on foot in the area. The protest is planned for 11:00 a.m. on August 8 on the steps of the Judicial Law Enforcement Center in Minden. The road is planned to be closed until Monday.

Of the new cases, 11 are from the Lake Tahoe region and three are from the Greater Placerville region, ten are aged 18-49, three are aged 50-64 and one is aged 65 or older.
92 tests were administered since yesterday, 78 tests came back negative and there were 13 assumed recoveries. At this time there are 178 assumed active cases.

Not all of the negative results are listed so the county positivity rate is showing above the state's eight percent threshold, which is inaccurate.
Additionally, instructions about what residents should do after they've been tested are being emailed to those who tested at the Lake Tahoe Community College site due to delays.

Since that time the letter has set off a fire storm with media coverage across the country.

The remaining nine new cases are spread out: five in El Dorado Hills, two are in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Placerville, and one in North South County. Of these 24, two are under the age of 18, 20 are aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one aged 65 and older.
There were 71 tests for the virus given since yesterday, and 47 negative tests were returned.

Three in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, three in Placervile, two in the Lake Tahoe region, one in El Dorado Hills and one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado. Of the new cases, five are aged 18-49, four aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or over, and eight of the new positive cases are female, two male.
The county was notified 124 test results came back as negative, and there have been 16 likely recoveries.

Fifteen of those are in the Lake Tahoe region, four in El Dorado Hills, two both Placerville and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in the North County. Three are under the age of 18, 14 aged 18-49, five aged 50-64 and two 65 and over.
This brings the total number of cases since the pandemic started to 579, 209 of those most likely still active.
Lane closures over Spooner Summit for NDOT roadside drainage project
Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/28/2020 - 8:36amSingle lane closures will take place on U.S. 50 between Carson City and Spooner Summit beginning July 30 as the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) wraps up a project to reduce roadside erosion and help preserve water quality.
Between July 30 and Aug. 7, drivers will see single lane closures from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays on both directions of U.S. 50 in areas between Tahoe Golf Club Drive and Spooner Summit.

Of the new cases, 16 are in the Lake Tahoe region, 11 are in El Dorado Hills, eight in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, five in Placerville, and one each in the North County and Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz regions.
Of the 42 new cases, three are under the age of 18, 27 aged 18-49, nine aged 50-64 and three aged 65 and older. Twenty-two are female, 20 are male.
420 tests have been administered since Friday.
Fire Weather Watch dropped for area, Red Flag Warning in place Monday
Submitted by paula on Sun, 07/26/2020 - 6:09pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds for Monday, July 27 from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
Normally, the Basin averages six Red Flag Warnings per season, and this makes four - and it's still July. Please remember all outdoor sources of open flame are prohibited until the Red Flag Warning declaration expires, and that includes gas/propane fire pits and grills.

The totals only increased by five as two previously identified cases were transferred to other counties today. They were previously counted in the Cameron Park/Shingle Sperings area.
Of the new cases, one is under the age of 18, four are aged 18-49 and two aged 50-64. Six are female, one male.
An additional 84 tests were administered.

Douglas County wildfire near Indian Hills extinguished

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It was noted that there were a number of lightning strikes in the area shortly before the fire started.

Twenty-one of those are in El Dorado Hills, twelve in the Lake Tahoe area, seven in Placerville, four in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, three in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and two in Diamond Springs/El Dorado.
Of the new cases, six are under the age of 18, 30 are aged 18-49, eight aged 50-64 and five aged 65 and older, 23 are male and 26 are female.

Of the new cases, one is under 18, nine are ages 18-49 and three are aged 50-64.
There were 42 new tests administered in the county, bringing that total to 14,833.
Two people remain hospitalized in the ICU. There are no suspected cases in Barton or Marshall hospitals.

Of those new cases, six are in the Lake Tahoe Region, three in each El Dorado Hills and Placerville, and one in North County. Ten females and three males make up this group with one under the age of 18, five aged 18-49, five aged 50-64 and two aged 65 and older.
305 new tests were conducted with eight recovers and currently 156 active cases.

Of the new cases, 15 are in the Lake Tahoe region, 5 in Placerville, three in each El Dorado Hills, Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and 1 in North County.
Of those new cases, one is under the age of 18, twenty are ages 18-49, five are aged 50-64 and four 65 and older. They are even split at 15 males and 15 females.
There have been three new cases admitted to the ICU and there are currently no suspected cases hospitalized.

Seven of those are in the Lake Tahoe Region, three in El Dorado Hills, three in Placerville, and two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Four are under the age of 18, nine aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one 65+.
There have been no changes in hospitalizations (3) but there are no longer COVID-19 patients in the ICU. There are currently no suspected cases in the hospital.

Of those new cases, three are male, nine are female, seven are aged 18-49, three aged 50-64, two aged 65+.
Three are 7 new recoveries and 134 active cases.
One more person has been hospitalized in the ICU, bringing that total to three. There are no additional suspected cases in the hospital.

Six more people have recovered, with 129 active cases. There has been no change to hospitalization figures and two remain in the ICU. There is one suspected COVID-19 patient in the ICU.

Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/07/2020 - 6:22pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County Tuesday, with two of those in the Lake Tahoe region, one from Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue area and one from El Dorado Hills. All are in the 18-49-years-old age group.
The total count only changed by two due to one person's location being misidentified and another was a duplicate entry, according to county officials.
There were two new recoveries, bringing that total to 145, leaving 119 active cases.

Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/06/2020 - 8:15pmUPDATE 7:335 p.m.: Douglas County officials say the Numbers Fire has now reached 18,000 acres and is 0% contained. The recommended evacuations for the Bodie Flats and Pineview areas have been lifted. Only residents are allowed to these areas. Please drive safely, watch for emergency vehicles, and be ready for possible future instructions in an ever-changing situation.
Multiple local, state, and federal agencies continue to work on containing the fire using dozers, hand crews, and aircraft.

There were three new recoveries leaving 95 active cases. Two people were released from local hospitals, leaving three hospitalized and one in the ICU. There are also two suspected COVID-19 cases in the ICU.
There have been 236 additional tests given.

Of the new cases, six are male, two female, one is under the age of 18, six in the 18-49 age group and one in the 50-64-year-old group.

Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/01/2020 - 5:05pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials have announced 14 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, five in the Lake Tahoe region, three in Greater Placerville, three in El Dorado Hills, one in the Pollock Pines/Camino and Kyburz area, one in the Diamond Springs/El Dorado area and one in the Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue area. Of the new cases, nine are males, five are females, 13 in the 18-49 age group, and one in the 50-64-year-old group.
There have been an additional three recoveries, leaving 73 active cases.
COVID-19 cases for Lake Tahoe area; Barton Hospital bed and ventilator update
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/30/2020 - 5:30pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials announced six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, five in the Lake Tahoe region, and one in the Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue area. Of the new numbers, two are male, four female, four in the 18-48 age group and two in the 50-64 age group.
No new recoveries have been reported, with that number remaining at 122. At this time there are 62 active cases of COVID-19. One positive person remains hospitalized in the ICU with one suspected case in the ICU.
182 additional people were tested for the coronavirus.

Eight are in the Lake Tahoe region, six are in El Dorado Hills, two in the Diamond Springs/El Dorado area, and five in the Greater Placerville area. There was a reclassification of a case in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs.
Lake Wind Advisory in effect for Lake Tahoe; Red Flag Warning for Western Nevada
Submitted by paula on Sat, 06/27/2020 - 4:51pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is a Lake Wind Advisory in effect for Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28. Expect winds from the west 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Waves on Lake Tahoe will be 2-4 feet. Strongest winds and roughest conditions expected Saturday afternoon and evening, and then again on Sunday.
Small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

There is one person hospitalized in the ICU in El Dorado County and no suspected cases at this time. The next update is expected on Monday.

Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/25/2020 - 6:25pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials have announced there were five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, one in the Lake Tahoe region, two in El Dorado Hills and two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs. Of the new cases, three are female, two are male, all in the 18-49-year-old range.
There have been seven new recoveries, leaving the active case number at 41.
There have been no additional hospitalizations and one person remains in the ICU. In California, 4,240 people are currently hospitalized with 1,306 of those in ICUs.
